Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell is auctioning off 429 lots of memoribilia from his illustrious NBAcareer. Shaquille ONeal revealed during TNTs Inside the NBA that he would love to have all 11 of Russells championship rings.
The online auction started a week ago and will come to an end with a live event on Friday at the TD Garden. Shaq will be among multiple fans who hope to get their hands on something from this priceless collection.
“Id like to take some of that stuff off their hands,” said Shaq. “To be able to have all 11 of those rings, nobodys outbidding me on that one.”
Unfortunately for Shaq, only two of Russells championship rings are up for auction – his first and his last – but he could bid on the other commemorative rings.
Russells Hall of Fame ring will be auctioned off along with another for making the NBAs 50th anniversary team, one that celebrates his two NCAA titles, and the one given to him by the league for winning the most titles in professional team sports history.
